The goal of fire prevention is to educate the public to take precautions to prevent fires.
Our Junior Fire Prevention program works closely with the students of the Newington Elementary School to have them see firefighters as people they can follow and trust. A Bicycle Rodeo, and a Fireman’s Field Day Course for the Elementary School children, a station tour are among the program’s many highlights so far.
The department offers fire extinguisher training for both businesses and residents. Residential fire extinguisher training classes are available during Fire Prevention Week in October or by appointment thoughout the year.
Residential Basement Flooding:
The fire department will pump out flooded basements depending on the availability of
equipment and manpower. This service is considered non-emergency and emergencies
will take priority. Please contact the duty crew at 603-436-9441.
Residential Knox Boxes:
Newington residents may use our residential KNOX box program – FREE!
The KNOX box system allows emergency responders to have access to your home while you are away from it by securing keys to your residence within a locked device at your residence. No more leaving keys with your neighbors!
Vial of Life:
The Vial of Life program is designed to provide a way for you to document information that we may need during an emergency – such as what medications you take, your medical history and emergency contact information. Vial of Life kits are available at the fire department for FREE!
Blood Pressure Checks:
If you’d like to have your blood pressure checked, please stop by the station. Blood pressure checks are FREE for residents.
If residents have any questions, please call C2.
